Interview with Vinod Kambli: One of the best left-handed batsmen in India

He was considered one of the most dashing players of his era. Vinod Ganpat Kambli, born on 18 January 1972, in Mumbai, was the childhood buddy of Sachin Tendulkar. He had great potential and he showed it amply on the international stage. Yet, due to undisclosed reasons, he was dropped from the team. Though he made come-backs, nine times, yet he was not given a fair chance to prove his mettle.

The players of his era were surprised to see why he was not included in the team. The greats of the bygone years (Sir Everton Weekes to be precise) also commented many times that Vinod had great potential.

He made two double-centuries and two centuries in seven tests and was the only player after Sir Donald Bradman to score two double centuries consecutively.

He says that youngsters should concentrate on Test Cricket rather than Twenty20.

We present a telephonic interview with Vinod.
