I remember I was sitting in Kaua’i when somebody asked me: ‘How do you say “I love you in Punjabi?” I was kind of confused because we don’t say it–most of the youngsters use the English expression itself. If I am not exaggerating it, I have never heard anybody saying to someone ‘I love you in Punjabi’ language literally translated.
It became a curious subject for me and I decided to write about it, in case somebody really wants to try.
|I love you (male)||ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ||Mai’n Tainū Piyāra Karadā Hā’n|
|I love you (female)||ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ||Mai’n Tainū Piyāra Karadī Hā’n|
The word ‘ਪਿਆਰ’ can also be replaced with ‘ਪ੍ਰੇਮ’.
