  1. Hi Jaspreet,

    Younger Brother= “Chotaa Bhaee”

    Elder Sister= “Waddi Bhain”

I hope you understand the pronunciation for “ch” and “dd” here–they are not present in English but used extensively in Indian languages.

  2. Here is how it is writter:

    Great Grandfather–ਪੜਦਾਦਾ
    Great Grandmother–ਪੜਦਾਦੀ

It is just adding a prefix “pad” before grandfather and grandmother. They are pronounced as “pad-dada” and “pad-dadi”. The “d” in “pad” has the sound of Indian consonant that does not come in English just like in “crore”, the original sound of “re” is the sound of “d” here.

  3. Family–ਪਰਿਵਾਰ
    Father–ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ

Put that last “ਜੀ” to everyone if you want to. This is generally used for elders but can be used for young ones also while calling them out of affection.

  4. What are the relations of the following:

    Older Sisters Husband
    Younger Sisters Husband

    Older Brothers Wife
    Younger Brothers Wife

  5. hi can you tell me what the term for my father’s cousin’s mother would be? or like my grandfather’s sister in law’s sister…

  6. Name of relation between two wives of one man is “SAUKAN”. Please tell me the Name of relation between two Husbands of one woman ?

  7. what will you say to ” wife de bhanje nu ( wife ke behen ke bete ko / sali ke bete ko) ” in pure punjabi & in general punjabi language?

    1. Language Enthusiast

Well, actually it is ‘ਭਰਜਾਈ’, which is ‘Bharjai’ in English. The both pronunciations you mentioned are distorted version of the original word. I hope this clarifies.
