Interview with Shankar Mahadevan: A computer engineer turned singer

He worked in hardcore computer industry before embarking on trying his luck in music which allowed him to pair with A. R. Rahman for a Tamil movie and he ended up winning the National Award for his song ‘Kandukondain Kandukondain’.

He started his career in Hindi singing with his unique album “Breathless”, which was hugely popular and there was no looking back. Then he formed the trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, where the three musicians came together to provide music to numerous films.

He is apt in both Hindustani and Carnatic style of classical music while he has displayed good mastery over light music as well. He has sung with many prominent music composers and have delivered many hits in the music industry.

The example of Shankar Mahadevan proves that music has no boundaries and if pursued with zeal and dedication, it can bring laurels to anybody.
