Hockey Player Pargat Singh who captained Indian national team

Pargat SinghHe belonged to a family of farmers. A festival-like environment for Hockey in his village ignited the love for the sport and Pargat went to captain the Indian national team in the Olympics in 1992 and 1996. He was awarded Padma Shree and Arjuna Award in recognition of his contribution to the game.

He is regarded as one of the best full-backs to ever play for Indian Hocket team.

Presently, he is the Director of Sports of Punjab and has been instrumental in raising the standards of the game.
