அம்மா என்பது இந்த உலகில் நமக்கு கிடைத்த மிகவும் புனிதமான உறவு. ஒரு தாய் எனப்படுபவள் தனது குழந்தையை நேசித்து, சீராட்டி, பாராட்டி வளர்கிறாள். அம்மாவின் சிறப்பை இந்தக் கட்டுரையில் காண்போம்.

நாம் இந்த உலகில் தோன்றக் காரணமாக இருப்பவள் நம் அம்மா. நமக்கு உடலையும் உயிரையும் கொடுத்தது மட்டுமின்றி இளமையிலிருந்தே நம்மை தாலாட்டி, சீராட்டி, பாராட்டி வளர்த்து ஆளாக்குவதில் அம்மாவின் பங்கினை வேறு எவரும் செய்ய இயலாது.
“அன்னையும் பிதாவும் முன்னறி தெய்வம்” என்பது தமிழில் வழங்கப்படும் முதுமொழி. அம்மாவிற்கு நாம் நன்றி உடையவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டும். அன்னையை நாம் தெய்வமாகக் கருதி போற்றி வணங்க வேண்டும். நமது அன்னையின் மூலமாகவே இந்த உலகில் நாம் நாம் நமது தந்தை மற்றும் பிற உறவுகளை அறிகிறோம்.
பல உறவுகளைக் கொண்டாடவும், புதுப்பிக்கவும், போற்றவும் பல்வேறு விதமான தினங்கள் கொண்டாடப்பட்டாலும் அன்னையர் தினம் என்பது மிக முக்கியமானதாகவும் போற்றுதலுக்கு உரியதாகவும் உள்ளது. அன்னையர் தினத்தன்று நாம் நமது அம்மா நமக்கு செய்த தியாகத்தை நினைத்துப் போற்றி கொண்டாடி அவருக்கு நன்றி சொல்லும் தினமாக உள்ளது. அன்னையர் தினத்தன்று அம்மாவிற்கு நன்றி சொல்லி அன்றைய தினத்தைக் கொண்டாடினால் மட்டும் போதாது. ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் நமது அம்மாவிற்கு நாம் மரியாதையையும் அன்பையும் கொடுத்து அவருக்கு வேண்டிய பணிவிடைகளை செய்து அவரது நலத்தைப் பேண வேண்டியது நமது தலையாய கடமை.
அம்மா நமக்கு இந்த உடலையும், உயிரையும் மட்டும் வழங்கவில்லை. நாம் பிறப்பதற்கு முன்பு நம்மைக் கருவில் பத்துமாதம் சுமந்து சிரமப்படும் தாய், நாம் பிறந்தவுடன் நமக்கு ஒரு சேவகியாக, நண்பனாக, வழிகாட்டியாக, ஆசானாக என்று பலவேறு செயல்களை ஒருங்கே செய்கிறாள். நமது தாயின் தியாகம் இல்லாவிடில் நாம் ஒரு மனிதனாக இந்த உலகில் நடமாடி செயல்பட முடியாது.
இளமையில் நம்மை வளர்த்து ஆளாக்கும் நமது அம்மாவை அவரது முதுமை காலத்தில் போற்றி, பாதுகாத்து பணி செய்து காப்பாற்ற வேண்டியது நமது கடமை. இது நாம் அவருக்கு செய்யும் உதவி இல்லை, நன்றிக் கடனே! இந்தக் கடமையை செய்யத் தவறும் பட்சத்தில் நாம் மனிதத் தன்மையற்றவர்களாவோம்.

‘Mother’ is a sacred relationship we have got on this earth. Our mother takes care of us, nurtures us from childhood, and raises us putting forth all her effort and love. In this essay, let us reflect on the greatness of ‘Mother’.
Mother is responsible for our arrival onto this earth. She not only gives us our life and body, but she also rears us sparing a lot of effort, time, and resources. The role of a mother is irreplaceable.
A proverb in Tamil says, “Mother and father are the first gods we know on this earth”. We must be grateful for our mothers for all that she has done to us. We come to know of all the other kinds of relationships on this earth only through our mother.
We have different special days to celebrate different relationships. However, Mothers’ Day is a very important one meant to convey our respect and love to our mothers and thank her for all that she means to us in our lives. It is a day to remember the sacrifice she has done for us. Celebrating Mothers’ Day is not just enough. We must always remember to give our respect and love to our mothers and take care of her in the best possible way. This is our bounden duty.
Our mother not only gave this body to us. Before we were born, she had carried us in her womb for ten months. Once we were born, she played the role of a nurse, friend, guide, teacher, and many others so that we can grow into a human and achieve whatever we accomplish on this earth.
While our mother nurtures and takes care of us in our childhood, it is our duty to take care of her during her old age. It is not a kind of help we do to her, but only a duty we owe her. If we fail to do this, we are unfit to be called humans.
