English Poem–Innocence

Posted on Posted in English Poems

To know about this world, its cultures, its traditions, and its ever-changing nature is a good thing.

To know something about you and your ways, my Lord—though it is not possible—is doubly good.

But to be innocent like a child and look for everything at you is extremely good.

A mother rests assured that the child is grown up and needs little attention, but she cares for the infant like eyelids do for eyes.

Then why should I take trouble to stuff my head with facts and formulae, when being innocent can fetch me the most valuable thing:

Namely, your love, Mother!
