How to Create Line Breaks in Messengers

Share

Though while chatting with friends and professionals, you don’t like to send long messages; however, if the need of creating a line break should arrive, most users do not know how to do it. The need of creating a line break might sneak in when you want to send a message in more than 1 line and want to send it collectively. Suppose you are writing a poem or a poetic message…

The need could be scarce and varied but it is quite easy to do so. If you directly press “enter”, the message got delivered to the user at the other end. I have picked 4 IMs that people use most often and have provided screen-shots for how it works.

How to create line break in Gtalk

While chatting through Gtalk, if you want to create a line break, you need to use “shift+enter” instead of simple “enter”. This will take the cursor in the next line. If you press “shift+enter” again, you will have a line break.

In Yahoo! Messenger, you will need to press “ctrl+enter” in order to create line break. The cursor will move to the second line and you can press “ctrl+enter” again to get the line break.

How to create line break in Skype

While using Skype for chatting, there are two options for creating line breaks. You can either press “shift+enter” or “ctrl+enter” to get the line break. The cursor will move to the next line and pressing any of them once again will give you the line break.

How to create line break in Windows Live Messenger

While using Windows Live Messenger, you again have two options to create line breaks. You can press “shift+enter” or “ctrl+enter” just like you can do in Skype. Once you press any of them again after getting the cursor in the second line, you will have the line break.

I do not know about any of other messengers but picked these 4 because of their popularity and usage. Please feel free to let me know if you know any other messenger and how to create line breaks in it while chatting with some other user.

this has nothing to do with messengers. this works because you are creating a new line with shift+enter, not a line break.
