Review of website tuxmachines.org–dedicated to open-source and linux

Tuxmachines.org is a site dedicated mostly to Linux and open-source software. The site is owned and maintained by Susan Linton who has a bachelor degree of science. The author writes for her site, for other websites and also picks links to news and articles related to open-source and share them with the users.

Review of Tuxmachines.org

Tuxmachines.org gives a brief abstract of the news or article and then the link to where the original post is. The website maintains a gallery of graphics of different distros of Linux as the web-owner herself has mentioned that she loves to experiment with different types of distros.

Tuxmachines.org has a blog section also where various authors contribute to popular topics based on open-source software and linux. The web-owner also writes her original articles here.

The forum gives you answers and suggestions about various types of problems and issues related to open-source software and Linux. Apart from this, there is Digg feed of Linux/Unix category where stories that are Digg under this category are shown.

A unique feature of Tuxmachines.org is “today’s leftover” which covers the topics that the author has not picked singularly. These links do not contain the usual description of the link but the users need to go to that link and read what they could get there.

Unlike other websites and blogs, you won’t find much links like “about us”, “who are we” or something on similar grounds. The navigation of the website is quite easy and it is not filled with unnecessary links that the users do not like.

There would be around 100 users online whenever you land on the home page of this site. It is clear that the author gives a lot of traffic to the websites who write about open-source and linux by giving them a direct credit of the news or the article. This is a very unique quality of this website where you get quality traffic if you write well.

Personally, I will say that the site can be compared to Digg or Stumbleupon though the categories are less but still the quality is not.
